Through comprehensive optimization of the substrate, coating, and processing technology, pre-coated steel coils play a dual role in building envelope systems, providing both material protection and architectural aesthetics.

Color-coated steel coils are composite materials made from cold-rolled or coated steel coils as substrates, through surface chemical treatment and organic coating. The choice of substrate type and coating system determines the overall performance and application range of the product. The substrate is the mechanical support of the color-coated steel coil. Depending on the usage environment and durability requirements, hot-dip galvanized substrates, aluminized zinc substrates, or cold-rolled substrates can be selected. Hot-dip galvanized substrates are covered with a pure zinc layer, providing sacrificial anode protection, and are suitable for general atmospheric environments. Aluminized zinc substrates use an aluminum-zinc alloy coating, combining the sacrificial protection of zinc with the barrier effect of a dense oxide film of aluminum, resulting in superior corrosion resistance, suitable for industrial atmospheres and marine climates. Cold-rolled substrates have a smooth and clean surface with good coating adhesion, suitable for dry indoor environments. The thickness and mechanical properties of the substrate are determined according to the application, meeting the strength and rigidity requirements of building envelope systems.

The coating system of color-coated steel coils determines its appearance and weather resistance, and typically consists of a primer and a topcoat. The primer contains rust-preventive pigments, enhancing adhesion between the coating and the substrate and providing underlying protection. The topcoat is the functional layer directly exposed to the environment; different resin systems such as polyester, silicone-modified polyester, and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) can be selected based on weather resistance requirements. Polyester coatings offer good overall performance and cost advantages, making them suitable for general building applications; silicone-modified polyester coatings improve UV and heat resistance through organosilicon modification, resulting in better gloss and color retention; PVDF coatings possess excellent weather resistance and chemical stability, maintaining their color and preventing chalking for many years, making them suitable for buildings with high durability requirements. Coating thickness, color, and gloss can be customized to user needs, and a precision coating process ensures consistent quality across the entire roll.

Color-coated coils have diverse applications in building envelope systems, covering roof panels, wall panels, and composite sandwich panels. As a roofing material, color-coated coils are lightweight and high-strength, adaptable to various roof slopes and shapes, and their rich colors add artistic appeal to buildings. As wall panels, pre-coated steel coils can be made into single-layer panels for industrial plants or used as the surface layer of composite panels for insulated walls, meeting the requirements of different energy-saving levels. Pre-coated steel coils are also widely used in auxiliary components such as eaves, awnings, and sunshades of steel structure buildings, ensuring a harmonious and unified overall color scheme. In commercial and residential buildings, pre-coated steel coils, with their rich colors and excellent processing performance, realize architects' creative visions for building appearance.
